How to do LTE Network Capacity Planning

 Difficult in LTE Capacity Planning 
Ø As there is no nature commercial LTE network in the world, we can’t have any useful reference traffic model, it means that we have no idea about the user’s habits and interested in mobile data services when using LTE network.
Ø LTE is a real all IP network, just have PS (packet service), different user will have different demand of Qos, bearer, so different user’s demand for data rate is various, even we know the ratio of active user, it is hardly to calculate the traffic.
Ø As the LTE network will co-exist with 3G/2G network, the inter network work strategy will impact the traffic a lot.
Ø There are 5 category of LTE terminal defined by 3GPP, different terminal will have different performance, so the terminal is an important factor to traffic.

As below table show, there are 2 types (conservative model and positive model) of traffic model and 3 kinds (Mobile Phone/Data Card/Home Access) of user were defined by LTE product line. These traffic model is reference to the existing 3G/2G traffic model

Here the positive LTE traffic model’s throughput value of mobile phone and data card user is two times of conservative model.
Now we have the traffic model, so we can calculate the network by give different weight to these 3 kinds of user.
For example: use the positive traffic model, suppose the weight of these 3 kinds of user is: 45%, 40%, 15%,
The average throughput per user is: 3.36*45%+6.46*40%+49.98*15%=11.59kbps.
So in different project we can calculate the traffic through adjust the different weight of the different user
